Forestry is the study and management of forests. Foresters can study the ecology and health of forests for research and academic purposes, or they can be involved in appraising and procuring sections of forests for the timber industry. Foresters can also work in conservation, which may mean having to sometimes argue against foresters who work for the timber industry. A Bachelor’s degree in forestry is a good start, but most foresters need a Master’s or Ph.D. degree to work in higher levels of research, conservation, teaching, or the timber industry.
